Sep. 15, 1938, Eagle newspaper
A previous Alumni organization was created in 1937 but appeared to wither with the outbreak of World War II. Articles about the Alumni Association in the Eagle newspaper were non-existent from 1939 to 1949.
After the war, teacher Laurette Cullinan and Student Body President Pete Zelalich F'45 coalesced ideas about re-forming the Alumni Association over a few years.
Edith Garin kick-started the official founding with a mailer sent to S'48 graduates who proved pivotal in the Association's re-formation. The present Alumni Association was officially founded in October 1951. Its founding President was Roland Bianchi S'48, who was Student Body President in his senior year.
Ms. Garin initially served as the Association's faculty sponsor and served in that capacity until just before her passing in 1967. Eleanor Matheu assumed the Alumni Association sponsorship for several years, handing it to Effie Pandell for one year before Denise Joseph (the latter two also alumnae) took the mantle until 2010 when she was appointed Executive Director, and the Alumni Association has foregone a faculty sponsor since then.
