A previous Alumni organization was created in 1937 but withered with the outbreak of World War II. The current Alumni Association was founded in October 1951. 

The GWHSAA:

• provides grants for classroom supplies and student activities not funded by the school district, plus teacher enrichment grants for relevant courses and workshops.

• gives graduating seniors more than three dozen scholarships and Principals' Cup awards.

• provides news about alumni, the school, reunions and related events to over 6,800 alumni members through our mailed and emailed news as well as social media channels.

• encourages closer alumni connections by promoting reunions and other relevant events and providing guidance to reunion committees.

• honors and celebrates alumni: The extraordinarily accomplished with Hall of Merit Awards, and the extraordinarily dedicated with Annabelle Marsh Piercy Lifetime Service Awards.

• preserves and documents GWHS' rich history with personal interviews and archives artifacts and ephemera we plan to display in a future permanent location of our landmark-worthy campus.
