The GWHS Alumni Association administers over 30 funds which benefit programs and departments at GWHS, and over 40 funds which provide scholarships and Principal Cup awards to graduating seniors to offset college costs. Alumni grants and scholarships impact nearly every GWHS student, including those shown below. Descriptions of all current funds are below.
Make a one-time or recurring gift with the link below, or text EAGLES4LIFE to 53-555 to support our mission: Quality public education and its power to transform a young person's life.
Choose the fund you wish to support in the Designate a Fund box.
Want to mail a check instead? Make out to GWHSAA, indicate fund(s) on your check's memo line, and mail to GWHSAA, PO Box 590605, San Francisco, CA 94159.
As a registered 501(c)(3) public benefit charity, your gift to any of our funds may be tax-deductible, consult your financial advisor for details.
Note on fees: A transaction fee for processing credit card payments is unavoidable, one way or the other.
The "Donate Now" buttons that we have on every page of this site will take you to our Givebutter site, which adds the transaction fee on top of what the donor gives. If you previously donated to us on Square Marketplace, Square subtracts fees from what the donor gives, and donors are not aware that we get less than the amount they donate. Donors may also choose to decline the Givebutter transaction fee, the result will again be that we get less than what the donor gives.
The Givebutter "tip" is optional and adjustable.
Do You Want to Make a Gift to GWHSAA?
Whether you're considering making a gift to the Alumni Association for a scholarship or in support of a specific program or department at GWHS, or wish to honor or memorialize an alum or faculty member, your options are:
Give a lump-sum for a one-time or limited-duration grant program or scholarship (annual minimum of $750 for scholarships)
Give a lump-sum to create an unrestricted fund that is spent down as grants or scholarships are awarded, after which the fund ceases to exist (annual minimum of $750 for scholarships)
Give at least $20,000 to establish a restricted fund which is invested to generate annual distributions for grants or scholarships
Give a lump-sum under $20,000 to an existing restricted or unrestricted fund “In Honor of” or “In Memory of” a person, to be acknowledged in Alumni records and the AlumniScope newsletter (and, if for a scholarship fund, on the certificate for the length of time that your gift funds an award); e.g., John Doe Scholarship in honor of Mary Jane Smith
We ask you first carefully review the list of existing funds to determine if one already serves your area of interest. The number of funds that the Alumni Association administers is already beyond our capacity to service.
Tax Info for Donors
All gifts to GWHSAA are eligible for tax-deductibility, if you itemize on your returns. Ask your tax preparer for information pertaining to your specific situation. GWHSAA is also eligible to receive distributions from Donor-advised Funds, Charitable Trusts and IRAs, and may be named as a beneficiary in Wills and Trusts and on Life Insurance policies.
